Queen in Gold
Pretty much my entire Christian walk, God has been teaching me to trust Him more. Today I am convinced this is something every Christian continually grows in. Whether you’re in a season of waiting or doing; God is most likely stretching your faith. Even in seasons of resting and reflecting God gives you reasons to trust Him and prepares you for what’s to come.
These 5 things you need to know about faith are what God has revealed to me in the last few weeks. I can’t share them with you without admitting that I’ve been extremely humbled while learning them. The only reason I can step out in faith is because of Holy Spirit working in me. These last few weeks have been exactly that.
This is what I’ve learnt: 1. It’s necessary It is through faith we receive eternal life (John 3:16) and we are made children of God (John 1:12). Living a life of faith is fundamental to being a follower of Jesus (Galatians 2:20). It is also through faith we are able to make an impact in the world (1 John 5:4-5, Romans 1:17).
2. It requires action In James 2:14-26 we read that faith without works is dead. Although faith is an inward impression it is visible through outward expression. True faith is not just a feeling, but taking action in living for Christ. 3. There’s no certain outcome Faith is not having everything figured out, but placing your trust in God even when you don’t see the next step (Hebrews 11:1). Usually when people share testimonies about stepping out in faith they include the fruit of that step. Most of the time, however, we have no fruit when we’re starting out. If we knew where we were going in wouldn’t require any faith. "Faith is not trusting for a desired outcome – its trusting Him"
You might not know what the outcome of your situation is, but you do know that God is good. Faith is not trusting for a desired outcome – its trusting Him.
4. It doesn’t make sense In our walk with God things don’t always make sense. When He asked Moses to lift up his staff over the sea, it didn’t make sense (Exodus 14:16). Neither did it when He asked Noah to build an ark in the middle of nowhere (Genesis 6:13-22) or when He asked Abraham to sacrifice the miraculous son he spent years waiting for (Genesis 22:2). God asked the Israelites to march around Jericho (Joshua 6:3-5). He asked Samson’s parents not to cut his hair (Judges 13:5). He asked a virgin girl to carry the Messiah (Luke 1:26-38). He asked the disciples to feed thousands with a few breads and fish (Matthew 14:15-21) and He asked the wind and sea to calm down (Mark 4:39-41).
So if He asks you to step out in faith, how could you not?
God will never ask you to do something contradicting to Scripture, but He will most likely ask you to do something contradicting to logic or society. 5. It’s not always easy A few weeks ago I wrote about my England experience and what it taught me about being brave (Bravery vs. Womanhood). I mentioned that my year in England was one of the toughest times I’ve ever faced. The reason for this was that it was a choice. Sometimes life throws us with a curve ball and we just have to survive through it. This was not like that. This was going through with something difficult, because it was what God called me to. It was making a daily choice not to pack my bags and come back home.
We like comparing faith to moving mountains (Matthew 17:20), but sometimes it takes so much more faith to walk over that mountain. When it gets really hard, that’s when we learn to rely on God’s strength.
This reminds me of Jesus in Gethsemane before He was captured. He asked the Father whether there was any way He didn’t have to go through with what was waiting for Him (Matthew 26:39). But in the same breath He asked for the Father’s will to be done and not His own.
Last thoughts So this is what faith is friends - It’s seeking His will and His Kingdom in all we do (Matthew 6:33). It’s choosing to trust Him and not ourselves (Proverbs 3:5). It’s living up to the boldness He set in our hearts. It’s being confident in what we hope and sure of what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1). Well, these are all good points, but faith is faith. If you have reasons to believe, then that isn't faith at all, or at least that is what I feel. I really do hate the fact that people just do not care what faith is all about. I mean, I know that it is hard to have faith in something, but it is what it is. If you have a reason, then that is just not faith anymore, that is desperation.

This meant so much for me and the season I’m in - but like you said, every season is one of growling in faith. Thanks for sharing!
